Hola Mohalla: The Forgotten Festival

  • Kala Sangam Arts Centre (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Running since the 17th century, the Hola Mahalla festival showcases the spiritual and warrior side of the Sikh faith through a series of events. Dubbed the Sikh Olympics, it involves sword fights, daring horse stunts and a dab of spiritualism. This documentary and exhibition offers an insight into a world rarely experienced. Using prints and original artwork the exhibition illustrates how this colourfully unique festival is celebrated. The accompanying documentary gives the viewer a snapshot of the festival in all its glory, with skilled horseman and swordsman demonstrating ancient warrior techniques.

You can now book tickets for the exhibition launch and free preview screening of the documentary "Hola Mahalla: The Forgotten Festival" on 18 April:
